Here at Belleza we judge Latinas as equals.

Weight, height, skin or hair color have no factor in the scoring system. Latinas come in all shades and sizes.  We celebrate and embrace each Latinas' uniqueness. You have the chance to compete alongside your peers, showing your pride to be a Latina!!

Competition Phases

CT Belleza Latina is a traditional pageant for latinas who are ages 3-older. Areas of competition include:  Private Interview (40%), Fashion (25%), Evening Gown (25%) and Photogenic (10%).

 


Personal Interview (40%)- NO DRESSES, Interview Suits Only!!!

  *Exception made for Petite Division due to lack of availability of suits in their size.

It's time to show the judges your inner beauty. This is where it counts the most. In a professional interview setting with a panel of judges, you will have the opportunity to talk one on one with the judges and let them get to know who you are. Relax, be natural, and most importantly, answer the questions honestly.

CT Belleza Latina titleholders must be articulate with good social and conversational skills. Titleholders must be able to express themselves clearly and must project a pleasant personality at all times. 

Interviews are conducted panel style for a duration of 5 minutes and focuses primarily on delegates' personal information (e.g., hobbies, ambition, etc.). Judges will not ask questions regarding Political views or Current Events.

  • Wear a cocktail suit or pantsuit for the interview competition.
  • Skirt hemline of cocktail suit should finish no higher than 2 inches above the knee.
  • Clear, open toe, and slingback shoes are acceptable.
  • Color of shoe must compliment color of suit.
  • City Sash must be worn for the Interview Competition.
  • Petite, Little Miss, Pre-Teen & Jr. Miss are required to wear stockings or tights with their interview attire.
  • Petite Division Only: You may select a Sunday dress or Interview Suit. Sunday Dress Hemline must finish above the ankle or higher. 
  • Points will be deducted if these rules are not followed.

*Judging Criteria: Conversational skill, personality, demeanor, overall self-presentation, grooming, and fashion sense.  


 


   

Fashion Wear (25%) - NO JEANS or PROPS ALLOWED!!!

Ever had a hidden desire to be a model? Here is your chance to walk on a real runway!  Show your personality in a high-fashion outfit and work the stage. Discover the Diva in you and don't forget to smile!!

CT Belleza Latina titleholders must be able to project their own personal sense of style. This segment will be conducted very much like a runway fashion show. Fashion attire can be anything the delegate feels represents a currently popular or stylish ensemble. Judges will be looking for high energy, spirit, and the delegate's sense of contemporary style for today's lady. Judges are not looking for a specific style or designer label but rather how well the attire suits the delegate (e.g., fit, color, style) as well as delegate’s on-stage presentation.  Competition details:

  • Attire is dressy-casual and may be a dress or pants outfit - NO Sneakers, JEANS, or EVENING GOWNS should be worn as Fashionwear! Points will be deducted.
  • Bare midriffs are acceptable, in the Teen, Miss, & Ms. divisions, but must be tasteful and complement size and figure.
  • Very casual attire (e.g., shorts, jeans, dockers) is not recommended.
  • Gloves, purses, and props are not allowed.
  • Points will be deducted if these rules are not followed.

*Judging Criteria: Modeling skills, personality, grooming, fashion sense and overall appearance.



Evening Wear (25%) - GOWN MUST BE AGE APPROPRIATE!!!

Every girl has always dreamed of feeling like a princess. Just as you've watched the hottest celebrities walk the red carpet, modeling the gowns of their dreams; this phase of competition gives you the opportunity to be in the spot light and wear the gown of your dreams.  This is your time to shine!

CT Belleza Latina titleholders must carry themselves with dignity, grace, poise and elegance. Judges will not be evaluating the cost or designer label of the gown, but rather how well it suits the delegate (e.g., fit, color, style) as well as delegate's on-stage presentation.

  • Evening Gown must be floor length. *Petite Division Only: Gown hemline may finish 1-3 inches above the floor. 3 inches is the maximum, any higher and points will be deducted. No party dresses.
  • Petite - Jr. Miss: Open leg baring splits are not allowed.
  • Teens are not allowed to wear gowns with thigh-high splits.
  • Shawls are not allowed.
  • Points will be deducted if these rules are not followed.

* Judging Criteria: Grace, poise, personality, modeling skills, grooming and overall appearance in your evening gown.


 
 



Photogenic (10%) - CANNOT BE OVERLY AIRBRUSHED!!!!

Work the camera!! Just as you've seen famous Latinas grace the covers of your favorite magazines, the Photogenic competition is an opportunity for you to show your personality and beauty in a glamorous picture. The photogenic competition is the phase of competition the delegate has most control of. 
 
***Competition photo MUST be handed in at pageant registration, the weekend of the state pageant.
  • Your photo may be Color or Black & White
  • Headshot or Half-body
  • May be either a Seated or Standing Position
  • Size of photo may be 5x7 and no larger than 8x10.
    • The color of your photogenic picture do not have an impact on the scoring. An 8x10 will not score higher than a 5x7, based on size.
  • Must look like you, should not be overly airbrushed, and should have a "formal" look.
 
* Judging Criteria: Photogenic Appeal,  Facial Beauty, Grooming, Fashion Sense, Quality & Clarity of photo, Personality, & Likeness.
Airbrushing should be kept to a minimum.  You should look like your photo. **Points will be deducted for an overly airbrushed photo!

     




**Las candidatas competiran en lo siguiente:
40% entrevista personal; 25% traje de gala; 25% de vestuario estilo pasarela; y 10% fotogenica.


Traje Tipico- THIS IS AN OPTIONAL COMPETITION!!!
*All delegates are required to compete in the Traje Tipico contest, but these scores DO NOT apply towards the State Queen's Title.

In this phase of competition each delegate has the opportunity to display her pride of her cultural heritage.  Model a costume or cultural outfit that represents the country or city you hail from (ex. Mexico/ Costa Rica/ San Juan, Puerto Rico/ Chile etc.).  Remember to be creative!

Juding Criteria: Modeling Ability, Originality, Creativity, Fit of Outfit, & How Representative your Costume/Outfit is of the City/Country you are Representing.

 


**Optional scores DO NOT count towards the titles: Miss Petite CT Belleza Latina, Little Miss CT Belleza Latina, Miss CT Pre-Teen Belleza Latina, Jr. Miss CT Belleza Latina, Miss CT Teen Belleza Latina, Miss CT Belleza Latina, or Ms. CT Belleza Latina.
